1. Because A Fine Balance is one of my favorite books ever, I reread it every couple of years.

I learned so much about India from reading this novel and the characters are so unforgettable that I find myself thinking about them from time to time.

2. My bookclub read Endurance a few months back while we were in the middle of our winter of discontent in DC, and it gave me so much perspective.

The British explorers who ventured into the South Pole are true heroes!

3. The Night Circus is a story about magic keeping a circus alive.

This story had so fantastic description that I’m hoping this one gets made into a movie.

4. I love when writers talk about their childhood and vacations and describe what they ate at the time. That’s what happens in Blue Plate Special.

It seems to me that reminiscing on food is a little like catching a whiff of a scent that takes you back to the past.

Isn’t it funny how you can suddenly remember all kinds of other details too?

Have you read anything good lately?
